In the Indian market, it competes with MG Gloster Public, Toyota’s Fortuner and Ford’s Endeavor
By Rabindra Dhungel, 8 october 2020. General Motors Pvt Ltd, the official manufacturer of India-based MG Motors, on Thursday unveiled the new model ‘MG Gloucester’ in SUVs. Competing with Toyota’s Fortuner and Ford’s Endeavor, the car has a starting price of Rs 2.9 million, according to the company.
The company has stated that MG Gloster has been brought to the market with the objective of selling premium series SUVs (sports utility vehicles) at affordable prices.
The diesel-powered vehicle has eight automatic speeds. Customers can use two-wheel drive in the Glosser under the low variant and four-wheel drive powertrain in the Glosser in the top variant, the company said.
The company has stated that customers can customize the after sales package as per their wish in the vehicle equipped with the latest technology including autonomous braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning.
Gloucester’s full-size premium body frame SUV offers customers a powerful twin-turbo diesel engine, Level One autonomous technology, and Kevin Comfort, the company said. The Gloucester has a 2,000 cc engine capacity and can be used in four modes including sand, snow, rock and mud. According to the company, the vehicle has a capacity of 218 horsepower and 480 Newton meters of power and torque.
General Motors Private Limited, which has a plant in Halol, Gujarat, India, has been producing 80,000 vehicles annually. Since the end of 2017, General Motors has been producing vehicles from Indian plants.
