Any bank’s card will now always be free at another bank’s ATM
Rabindra Dhungel, 20 september 2020. Banks have provided no charge for using any bank card at any ATM during the post-Corona lockdown period. But as soon as the lockdown ended, some banks started charging fees again from July 1. Now, there is a policy of no charge for using one bank’s card in another bank’s ATM.
Earlier, banks used to charge a certain fee for using each other’s cards in different ATMs in the name of different networks. However, NRB, while addressing the policy regarding the operation of electronic payment card, has made an arrangement to charge no fee for inter-ATM transactions.
Regarding the policy and procedural provisions to be adopted while issuing electronic payment card, point (e) states (‘ATM card issued by one bank and financial institution will not be charged to the card user while using it in the ATM of another bank and financial institution within the country.
‘ Policy provision has been made to inform the customer about this 15 days in advance through SMS and also about the card renewal fee.
Similarly, all the cards have to be chipped. If necessary assistance is required at the ATM counter, the name and mobile number of the concerned employee and the name, address and telephone number of the concerned organization should be written in Nepali and English language so that the customer can see and understand clearly.
