[Minister for Education Pokharel has called on teachers, parents and students to participate in the online class]
Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel has called on teachers, parents and students to participate in the process by recognizing the learning of the alternative system as an educational session as there is no possibility of opening a school due to the Corona epidemic.
Speaking at a virtual press conference here today, Minister Pokharel said that a campaign would be launched to ensure minimum learning for all through an alternative system with the belief that home is a school in a compelling situation.
He said that teachers who do not have access to internet, radio, television, telephone communication and information and technology at home should make invaluable contribution to the learning process by maintaining physical distance. He also informed that the issue was discussed in today’s cabinet meeting and directed to bring an action plan for the learning continuity of the students who have access to information and communication.
He said that the university and related bodies were working for the adjustment of the curriculum by recognizing the alternative system as an academic session and the local level should monitor the learning and maintain its effectiveness. Minister Pokharel urged all teachers to pay special attention to their duty in times of challenge as compulsory corona insurance has been introduced.
He informed that the process of accreditation of academic sessions and student archiving and data collection will be started by amending the Learning Facilitation Directive 2077 of the alternative system issued on May 30. Minister Pokharel said, “Nepal will not be able to sustain the transition if the decision is taken to open an educational institution in a hurry.
The example of some other countries of the world is also teaching us this. So now there is no alternative to alternative methods of education. ” In response to a question, he clarified that private schools can also charge for alternative tuition with the permission of the local level.
