[Bring cyber security regulations, now maybe privacy of personal information]
Nepal Telecommunication Authority has issued ‘Cyber Security Bile, 2020’ regulation on cyber security. NEA has stated that this regulation has been brought to make the service providers responsible for following the standards of cyber security.
In view of the recent increase in cyber crime, NEA has implemented cyber security regulations for all telecommunication service providers.
This regulation, which has been approved and brought in accordance with the Telecommunications Act 2053 BS, must be complied with by the service providers including basic telecommunication, telephone, mobile and internet licensed by the authority. According to NEA, the regulations have been prepared by adopting various standards of cyber security in accordance with the internationally prevailing standards and practices.
The Act includes provisions on general security standards and practices, including infrastructure and network security, core system security, web and mobile applications, data privacy and security, and cyber security awareness and capacity building.
NEA has also instructed all its telecommunication service providers to follow the regulations effectively to reduce the risk of cyber security.
