Rabindra Dhungel, 29 August 2020. Nepali Congress leader and former minister Navindra Raj Joshi has said that the democratic movement was successful because of Nepali women.
Speaking at a week-long virtual program organized here today on the occasion of the 24th memorial day of Mangaladevi Singh, the founding president of the Nepal Women’s Association, she said that the role of women in Nepal’s political movement was important.
“Women have an important role to play in every change in Nepal. Women’s rights have been established due to the women’s movement,” she said. He said that it was important to increase women’s participation in politics. Central Member and Member of Parliament Dr. Dilla Sangraula said that women empowerment has not been possible in Nepali politics.
“Women’s rights and empowerment have not been recognized by the Nepali Congress leadership,” she said. He said that women’s association should fight against violence against women. Netri Sangraula said that it was time to fight for women’s rights through politics by involving women in economic empowerment and empowerment.
State Assembly member Pushpa Chaudhary said that violence against women has not decreased so far and all women should unite against it. He said that women should work hard to break the patriarchal thinking. NC Kaski treasurer Laxmi Pandey described Mangaladevi Singh as a courageous and rebellious woman. “Due to the revolution made by Mangaladevi Singh, Nepali women have been able to reach the leadership lately,” he said.
Congress general committee member Rekha Yadav, general secretary of the women’s association Dhana Khatiwada, Kamala Rajbhandari and others said that the time has come for women to work for the implementation of their rights even though the party has given them rights.
