Sunrise Bank’s internal dispute is growing
Rabindra Dhungel, Kathmandu, Fri, 10 Aug 2020 . Nepal Rastra Bank has shown interest in this issue along with the discussion in the board of directors of Sunrise Bank. NRB ( Nepal Rastra Bank)has called the bank’s director and chief executive officer (CEO) for a discussion, saying that the issue of leaving or leaving the job has been discussed between the director and the chief executive officer.
According to a senior NRB official, the bank’s chairman, operator and CEO were called by telephone on Sunday. The official said that the CEO was called on Sunday to find out the real news from outside.
“Some media outlets have reported on the controversy, some even on the news of the CEO’s resignation,” he said. “We haven’t heard anything from the bank.
He said that the NRB would take necessary decision after understanding the facts after tomorrow’s discussion. Janak Sharma Poudyal was appointed as the chief executive officer of the bank one year ago.
Initially, the board of directors of the bank had decided to appoint Niraj Shrestha. However, Shrestha refused to take the appointment after some directors expressed their dissatisfaction. Later, when Poudyal was appointed, all the directors agreed.
For the past few months, the bank’s director Malchand Dugad had been expressing some dissatisfaction with CEO Poudyal. However, the bank’s chairman Motilal Dugad was in favor of Poudyal.
After that, the chairman and the CEO were accused of trying to do things on their own. When the controversy over the issue escalated, two managers even demanded the resignation of the CEO. After the issue came out, the NRB called for a discussion to resolve the dispute.
