American preparation to buy TIK TOK, Trump urges to sell TIK TOK
Rabindra Dhungel, Thu, 6 Aug. US President Donald Trump has given a six-week deadline to sell a popular Chinese-owned video-sharing application TIK TOK to a US company. The proposal comes at a time when TIK TOK users are growing worldwide.
Companies, including Microsoft, are in the process of buying TIK TOKs after President Trump signaled a ban on TIK TOKs in the United States.
The Trump administration is raising the issue of US national security by making it possible for TIK TOK apps to be downloaded and viewed in the US through US companies.
President Trump has said that TIK TOK will only be allowed to enter the United States through a US company, and that such a move is necessary for the security of the United States.
Trump said Microsoft was in talks to buy TIK TOK. Tiktak now has one billion users worldwide. 60 seconds videos can be made and posted from a very popular ticket, especially among the youth.
But U.S. officials have been claiming that millions of Americans’ private information is in danger of being taken to China by Chinese intelligence agencies.
The US administration has set a deadline of mid-September for TIK TOK, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance.
President Trump said, “I have given a deadline of September 15. If there is no agreement within that time, TIK TOKs will be closed in the United States.”
