(Xinhua) — Nicaragua confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, said Vice President Rosario Murillo. The patient is a 40-year-old Nicaraguan man who recently returned from a trip to Panama, Murillo said on national television. The man went to hospital after symptoms such as fever and dry cough and tested positive for the COVID-19, Murillo added.
The patient is now in stable condition, she said, adding that health authorities are closely monitoring those who have had close contact or traveled with the patient. The government has applied all preventive measures and urged people to remain calm, said the vice president.
