Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs in IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs in the 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the help of fast bowler Chris Morris and spinner Washington Sundar. Chasing a winning target of 170 for victory, Chennai scored 132 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Chennai’s Ambati Rayudu top-scored with 42 off 40 balls with four fours. In the last ball of the fourth over, Washington Sundar caught Fap du Plessis for 8 off Chris Morris. In the fourth ball of the sixth over, Sundar bowled another opener Shane Watson for 14 runs. Watson struck three fours in 18 balls. Narayan Jagdesan was run out for 33 in the second ball of the 15th over. Narayan struck four fours in 28 balls.

Spinner Yuj Chandra Chahal was caught by Gurkrit Singhman for 10 near the boundary after skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a big shot in the last over of the 16th over. Sam Karan could not open an account. Ravindra Jadeja was caught for 7 runs. Washington Sundar took 2 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs.

Chris Morris took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Yujbhendra Chahal and Isuru Udana took one wicket each. Earlier, Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat at the Dubai International Stadium and scored 169 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 90 off 52 balls with four fours and four sixes. Shivam Dubey remained unbeaten on 22 off 14 balls with two fours and one six. For the fifth wicket, Kohli and Dubey put on an unbeaten 76-run stand off 34 balls. Bangalore had added 66 runs in the last 24 balls.

Fast bowler Deepak Chahar bowled opener Aaron Finch for two in the fifth ball of the third over to give Chennai their first victory. Finch faced 9 balls. Shardul Thakur, another fast bowler in the 11th over, took two wickets. In the second ball of the 11th over, Thakur caught opener Devdutt Padikkal for 33 from Fap du Plessis. Padikkal hit 2 fours and 1 six in 34 balls. After the doubles, the attacking batsman AB de Villiers was caught out for zero by Bangalore and Bangalore reached 67-3.

In the third ball of the 15th over, Sam Karan caught Washington Sundar for 10 off Dhoni. Shardul Thakur of Chennai took 2 wickets for 40 runs in 4 overs. Sam Karan and Deepak Chahar took one wicket each. Chennai will now play Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. Bangalore will play Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday.
