As health is of paramount importance in human life, medical science has emphasized the need to follow proper procedures for body protection and health. The Charaka Samhita (Charaka Samhita Diagnosis 6 ÷ 7) says: ‘The body should be nurtured even after giving up all other worldly activities. If there is a lack of body (body perishes) then there is a lack of all other things. ‘ Without the body, there is no relevance to living. Every human being must be health conscious for his happy life, success and prosperity in life.

What is health? The question may arise. The World Health Organization (WHO) says that health is not just about getting rid of disease and weakness, but also about being physically, mentally and socially fit.

If not consumed according to proper rules and regulations, sattvic food itself loses its natural qualities and becomes Rajasic and Tamasic. Food should not be eaten in such a way that it makes the body lazy, laziness is impurity. Food should not be such that whatever causes arousal, arousal is also impurity. Even if the food is not so small that it makes the body weak, weakness is also impurity. Sattvic food can mean – food that does not stimulate, does not give intoxication, does not give laziness, gives vitality, it is sattvic.
