Rabindra Dhungel, 8 october 2020. Finland often tops the list of gender equality. But Prime Minister Sanna Marin took further steps to fight gender segregation by handing over her chair to the 16-year-old for a day on Wednesday. Even though no new law was enacted, Eva Murto had a schedule of meetings with politicians throughout the day. The aim is to emphasize women’s rights in technology.

The teenager was given the responsibility ahead of the United Nations International Women’s Day, which was part of a global campaign. This is the fourth year that Finland has participated in Plan International’s ‘Girls Takeover’. In this campaign, teenagers from all over the world are given the opportunity to one day take on the responsibilities of leaders in politics and other fields.

This year, the focus is on technology opportunities and digital empowerment for young women. In her address on Wednesday, Ms. Murto said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to speak in front of you today, but I wish I hadn’t had to stand here. There is no need for campaigns like Girls Takeover. ” But he believes that gender equality has never been achieved in any part of the world. “But we have done a very good job in this area and there is still a lot of work to be done,” she said.

Adolescents active in human rights and climate campaigns had applied to participate in such campaigns. After a busy day in the meeting, the Prime Minister is discussing gender equality in technology in the evening.

“It should not deepen the digital divide within society and between countries,” she said. Last year, Finland was ranked third in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Inequality Report. However, women are still under-represented in technology.

Maria, who was sworn in last year at the age of 34, became the world’s youngest prime minister. She is the third female Prime Minister of Finland. The center-left coalition he leads has four parties. All of these parties are led by women and three of them are under 35 years of age.
