German forward Timo Werner to miss international friendly against Turkey

Rabindra Dhungel, 7 october 2020.  English club Chelsea’s German forward Timo Werner is set to miss an international friendly against Turkey. Germany are scheduled to play Turkey at home on Wednesday night ahead of two UEFA Nations League games.

Germany coach Joachim Loca’s assistant coach Marcus Sorg said Werner would not be available for the game against Turkey due to a fever. Werner spent 90 minutes on the field in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

However, he will miss the friendly against Turkey in Cologne due to fever. Coach Sorg said he was in regular contact with the team and would be available for two Nations League games.

Germany is scheduled to play Ukraine on October 10 and Switzerland on October 13. Werner, 24, who arrived at Chelsea from German club RB Leipzig for  50m this summer, has scored 12 goals in 31 games for Germany. He has been a regular in the German national team since 2017.
