The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has sent a proposal to the Council of Ministers for permission to conduct the Class 12 examination on the basis of student attendance, which has not been held for six months due to corona infection (Covid-19). Deputy Secretary Bidur Raj Giri informed that the proposal along with the suggestions sent three days ago was the final examination of class 12 school education and the written examination conducted by the National Examination Board for higher education at home and abroad would be valid.

As per the instructions given by the Ministry of Education, the Board had submitted a report to the Ministry in the last week of August with suggestions on conducting the 12th examination. According to Deputy Secretary Giri, the ministry has proposed to conduct the examination in the old system by adopting health security as there is no alternative to conduct the examination in writing. Four lakh 33 thousand one hundred and eighty students are waiting for the exam. The students who want to pursue higher education abroad have complained that their future is in doubt as there is no examination in Nepal yet while the admission and study of undergraduate level is being conducted in foreign universities. The ministry has set a target of conducting examinations after Dasantihar to prevent students from wasting their academic session. “The ministry is waiting for the decision of the cabinet,” Giri said. The board has completed its preparations. ‘

On the other hand, Board Spokesperson Jung Bahadur Aryal informed that a model of conducting the examination has been prepared and sent to the Ministry a month ago and the Board is preparing to conduct the examination as soon as the decision of the Ministry is taken. He said that a written report has been prepared and sent to the ministry after discussing with 500 people including local level, district chief, mayor, school management committee chairperson, village chairperson, parents, teachers and students.

The board has completed all the preparations to conduct the examination in a phased manner by adopting all the measures of health protection in the districts where the corona is not affected and less affected, ‘said spokesperson Aryal. That is why if the government makes a quick decision, the student’s academic session will be saved and the exam will be held. ‘He added,’ The exam scheduled for April was delayed for six months.
