Rabindra Dhungel, 4 October 2020. Is the phone you use water resistant or not? Most phones still break down when soaked in water. But the water resistance phone was made ten years ago in 2010. The waterproof Motorola Defy phone was made by Motorola. The Motorola Defy is a phone of the time when phone makers used to have more essential features than following any trend. The Motorola Defy phone was not like today’s premium model phones. But this phone could well withstand the daily interruptions.

Talking about the looks of this phone, it had a 3.7 inch TFT display of 854 by 480 pixels. It was 107 mm long and 13 mm thick. Its display also had a gorilla glass coating. Which protects the phone from scratches. In terms of performance, the Motorola Defy was a worthy phone of its time. It had 512 MB of RAM and OMAP chipset. It had Google’s bourgeois Android 2.1 operating system. This phone was not as fast as it is now. But back then it was easy to watch YouTube clips and Google Maps, to browse the web. The trump card of this phone is its IP67 rating. This means that even if the phone is immersed in one meter of water for half an hour, there is no effect. Some surprisingly practical solutions were used on the phone to get this rating. The body of the phone was made of plastic and its USB port and headphone jack were sealed with a rubber plug. But if the plug did not fit in the jack of the phone, it could not protect the phone from water. Therefore, it was not completely waterproof.
