Exciting match between Hyderabad and Chennai in IPL, lost by only 7 runs

Rabindra Dhungel, 3 October 2020. Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Chennai Super Kings by seven runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket.

Batting first after winning the toss, Hyderabad scored 164 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Chennai managed to score only 157 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. This is Chennai’s third consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL.

Priyam Garg added 51 not out in Hyderabad’s victory. Similarly, David Warner contributed 28 runs, Manish Pandey 29 runs and Abhishek Sharma 31 runs. Johnny Bairstow was out for zero, while Ken Williamson scored nine and Abdul Samad eight.

Deepak Chahar took 2 wickets for the bowlers. Chasing a target of 165 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Chennai suffered a major setback in the third over. Shane Watson was bowled by Bhunveshwar Kumar. Watson managed to score only one run. Ambati Rayudu of Chennai, who was trying to recover from the injury, was bowled by T Natarajan. Natarajan managed to score only 8 runs.

Earlier, Faf du Plessis was run out while trying to score a run. He scored 22 runs off 19 balls with the help of four fours. Kedar Jadhav, who came to bat at number four, was dismissed for just three runs off 10 balls.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 47 not out to make the team a respectable score. Facing 36 balls, he struck four fours and a six.

Similarly, Ravindra Jadeja scored a half century. Facing 35 balls, he scored 50 runs with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. Sam Quran remained unbeaten on 15 runs. T Natarajan took 2 wickets for the bowlers.
