Mechi Crown Hotel operates in Jhapa with an investment of Rs 1.5 billion, including a hotel casino targeting Indians

Rabindra Dhungel, 2 October 2020. In the midst of the covid transition, the five-star hotel Mechi Crown has come into operation in Dhulabari, Jhapa. The hotel has been soft opening since Wednesday.

Pavitra Kumar Karki, Balram Sapkota, director of Marigold Jewelery Sureshman Shrestha and Kshamadevi Builders Group are investing in the construction industry. The hotel on eight bighas of land has an investment of Rs 1.5 billion. The hotel is managed by The Peak Hospitality. Karki, the chairman of the hotel, said that the construction of the hotel had started four years ago but it was postponed due to covid.
“We started building the hotel four years ago. “We had made all preparations to inaugurate the hotel in April,” he told Bijmandu. “We have brought the hotel into operation as the government has gradually opened up all the areas.”

“Once the casino is allowed to operate, the hotel will be fully operational,” Karki said, adding, “We will probably have a grand opening after the festival.” The hotel is targeted at Indian tourists.

The hotel is 25 kilometers from Bagdogra Airport in India. The hotel has been built with the aim of attracting tourists from India to the casino. The hotel is only 17 kilometers from Bhadrapur Airport. Karki said that the hotel could attract expensive tourists as it is close to Bangladesh.

The hotel also has space for a private helipad. Apart from that, there is a facility to park more than 500 vehicles. The hotel has 105 rooms. There are five Mechi Suites, 10 Executive Villas, 19 Mechi Club Rooms and 71 Deluxe Rooms.

He said that the hotel has well-equipped halls for weddings, meetings, conferences, seminars, etc. The hotel has two restaurants. Karki said that about 900 Nepalis will get direct employment after the hotels and casinos are fully operational. The hotel has a basecamp restaurant and a mechebar.

 

 

 

The hotel has stated that 300 people can sit comfortably at the round table in Kanchenjunga ballroom. Karki said that the hotel has a reception hall that can accommodate up to 1,500 people.
