Rabindra Dhungel, 1 october 2020. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs in the 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata’s second win in the ongoing IPL was Rajasthan’s first defeat. Chasing the winning target of 175 runs for the victory, Rajasthan scored 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rajasthan all-rounder Tom Karan remained unbeaten on 54 off 36 balls with two fours and three sixes, but a single effort was not enough for the team to win. Only three players from Rajasthan managed to score double figures. Eight players failed to score in double digits.
In the last ball of the second over of Pat Cummins, captain Steve Smith was caught by wicketkeeper Dinesh Kattik for 3 runs. In the first ball of the fifth over, Sanju Samson was caught by Shivam Mabhi off Sunil Narayan for 8 runs. Wicketkeeper Jas Butler was caught for 21 off the first ball of the seventh over. Robin Uthappa was dismissed for two in the first ball of the eighth over. Uthappa was caught out by Mabhi by Kamlesh Nagarkoti. After two balls, Ryan Parag was caught out by Subhaman Gill for one run and Rajasthan was in a weak position of 42-5.

Ankit Rajput took 1 wicket for 39 runs in 4 overs. Tom Karan took 1 wicket for 37 runs in 4 overs. Rajasthan had defeated Chennai Super Kings by 16 runs in the first match. In the second match, Kings XI Punjab lost by 4 wickets. In the fourth match, Rajasthan will play Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday. Kolkata had lost the first match by 49 runs to Mumbai Indians. In the second match, Sunrisers defeated Hyderabad by 7 wickets. Kolkata will play its fourth match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
