Rabindra Dhungel, 1 october 2020. German giants Bayern Munich have won the German Super Cup, defeating Borussia Dortmund, the nearest rivals in the German Bundesliga. They beat Dortmund 3-2 on Wednesday night to win the title. Corinthians Tolisso, Thomas Mरller and Joshua Kimmich scored in Bayern’s victory at the Allianz Arena. Dortmund’s Julian Brand and Earling Braut Holland scored goals but could not defeat. This is Bayern’s second title of the season. Bayern had won the UEFA Super Cup two weeks ago, beating Spanish club Sevilla 2-1.
In a competitive match, Bayern took the lead in the 18th minute at home through a goal from Corinthians Tolisso. He scored in the second attempt from Alfonso Davis in a counter-attack on a pass from Kings Koman, Thomas Mरller and Robert Lewandowski. When Joshua Kimmich missed in the 22nd minute, Bayern failed to double their lead. Thomas Mरller doubled Bayern’s lead in the 32nd minute. He managed to score through a header in the cross pass of Alfonso Davis.
Julian Brand scored in the 39th minute to make it 2-1. Earl Braut Holland’s pass gave Brand a great finish and Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Noyer had no chance to stop him. Holland scored in the 55th minute to level the game 2-2. In a clever pass from Thomas Delaney, Holland beat Noir in a one-on-one situation. Dortmund missed the lead in the 59th minute when Holland missed a chance to score. Kimmich scored in the 82nd minute to give Bayern a 3–2 lead. He was able to score in the second attempt by Kimvich in a perfect combination of Lewandowski and Kimmich. The first shot was saved by goalkeeper Marvin Hitz, but he managed to score while he was fighting. After that no more goals could be scored, Bayern won 3–2 and became the champions.
