Rabindra Dhungel, 28 september 2020. A U.S. federal judge on Sunday blocked the implementation of a controversial order by U.S. President Donald Trump to stop downloading the popular video-sharing app TickTok to the United States. Tickets will not be available for download in the United States from Sunday night, according to President Trump’s order. Earlier, the US Department of Commerce had said it would postpone the ban until September 27.

President Trump has demanded that US companies Oracle and Walmart, which are interested in buying tickets, be given full control over the tiktok. The two U.S. companies have entered into an agreement with TikTok’s official company, BitDance, to buy TikTok’s U.S. business.

On August 6, Trump signed an executive order banning Chinese company ByteDance from doing business in the United States, citing threats to US security and the privacy of US citizens. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused Chinese companies such as Tiktok and WeChat of leaking confidential US data to Chinese security agencies.
