Rabindra Dhungel, 27 september 2020. ByteDance, the parent company of Tiktok and Hello, which is banned in India, has provided millions of rupees in bonuses to its Indian employees. The company had said in early September that it would give cash bonuses to its Indian employees. Bite Dance has given a bonus of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 6 lakh to full-time employees between July and August. ByteDance has more than 2,000 employees in India.

At the same time, the company has given a bonus of up to Rs 80,000 to middle class employees. A few days ago, Bloomberg News reported that employees working between July and August would receive a bonus of 50 percent of their August salary. The Indian government banned 59 Chinese apps in the first phase on June 29. Citing sources, the news said that ByteDance has not fired any Indian employees so far.

No one’s salary has been cut. Instead, the company hired some Indians in the sales team while the app was being banned. In a recent blog post, ByteDance said it would own 80 percent of Tiktak’s new US company. But President Donald Trump has said no permission will be granted as long as Tiktak Global is owned by ByteDance. At the same time, the Trump administration said on Friday that it would not back down from its plan to ban the download of the popular video-sharing app Tiktok.

The matter is being heard in court on Sunday. The U.S. Department of Commerce has ordered Apple and Google to remove WeChat and Tick from their App Stores. But U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols overturned the ruling.
