Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Mumbai by 49 runs
Rabindra Dhungel, 24 september 2020. Former champions Mumbai Indians have clinched their first victory in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In last night’s match, Mumbai defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs.
Batting in reply to Mumbai’s 196-run target at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Kolkata lost nine wickets in 20 overs to score 146 runs.
Kolkata’s Pat Cummins was the top scorer with 33 runs while captain Dinesh Karthik and Nitesh Rana scored 30 and 24 runs respectively. Ian Morgan (16) and Andre Russell (11) returned to the pavilion.
Mumbai’s Trent Bolt, James Pattinson, Rahul and Jaspreet Bumrah took 2/2 wickets and Kieron Pollard took 1 wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss, Mumbai lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and scored 195 runs.
Captain Rohit Sharma scored 80 runs for Mumbai. He struck six sixes and three fours in 64 balls. He has hit 200 sixes in the IPL.
Similarly, Surya Kumar Yadav added 47 runs, Saurabh Tiwary added 21 runs and Hardik Pandya added 18 runs. Kolkata’s Shivam Mabhi took two wickets and Sunil Narine and Andre Russell took one wicket each.
With the win, Mumbai has added 2 points in 2 games. In the first match, Mumbai lost to Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets. Kolkata lost the first match of the season.
