A device to ban illegal mobile phones has arrived in Kathmandu

Rabindra Dhungel, 14 september 2020. Necessary equipment for Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) developed by Nepal Telecommunication Authority has arrived in Kathmandu to control illegal mobile entry into Nepal.

 

 

ccording to NEA, the first phase of the project has entered the valley. The regulator issued a statement on Monday. The project was launched two years ago in an effort to shut down unregistered mobile phones.

 

 

For this, a contract was awarded to Numera SDN BHD Malaysia, OSI Consulting Pvt. Ltd. India and Namaste Global Com Pvt. Although the company has been entrusted with the design, development, supply, connection, testing and operation of MDMS, the project has not been completed yet.

 

 

According to NEA spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal, the necessary software for the system has been prepared. The authority has stated that the work of software development in accordance with the system has been completed after discussions with the stakeholders including mobile service providers, customs department and mobile importers.
