Rabindra Dhungel, 14 september 2020. World-renowned pizza brand Domino’s has successfully delivered pizza to its customers in New Zealand on Wednesday via drone.

The plane was controlled via GPS navigation and pizza was delivered to a settlement 25 kilometers north of Auckland.

According to Domino’s Group Executive Director Don Mezika, Dome Delivery will be an integral part of the company’s pizza delivery process in the future.

“We will be collecting information by making more deliveries in this area this week and will expand the service to other areas from next year,” he said.

Preparations for the work were started three months ago with the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority. According to Domino’s, after successful testing, food temperatures were checked and discussions were held with the government.

At speeds of 18 to 20 kilometers per hour, the vehicle flies through bridges, sidewalks, and even garbage collection containers using Google Map data and Domino’s GPR track technology.

Weighing in at 190 pounds [190 kg], the vessel can hold both hot and cold food. And, after the delivery of food, the customer will be able to open the door and take out the food through the given code number.
