Now all the service providers will have the same short code to transfer the balance and recharge the mobile. Now the short code used to get the information of the balance in the mobile, transfer the balance and recharge the mobile will be the same four all the service providers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority has made such arrangement by issuing short code and toll free number management procedure, 2077, used in telecommunication services.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Earlier, the service provider had been using its own separate code, 84003 for checking Nepal Telecom’s mobile balance, 84223 for transferring balance and 84123 for recharging. In the case of Smart Cell, 81233 was used for mobile balance check, 81313 for balance transfer and 84223 for recharge.

 

 

 

 

 

Now, all the service providers have to use the same code. 144 short codes have to be used for checking, 133 for balance transfer and 122 for recharge. NEA has stated that such provision has been made for the convenience of the user. ‘Having the same code will be easier for the user.’
