Scientists in Australia have claimed that bee venom can benefit breast cancer patients. Bee venom and the compound called mellitin were used against two types of cancer that are considered difficult to treat (Triple Negative and AER (2), which is said to be successful in killing cancer cells. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide.
According to scientists, a mixture of thousands of compounds has been shown to fight cancer cells in laboratory tests, but little has been used in the body for treatment. Older studies have shown that bee venom is also useful against other types of cancer. The study tested more than 300 bee venom. Saira Duffy, a 25-year-old leader, said the compound extracted from bee venom was very effective. A certain amount of toxin is said to kill cancer cells within an hour and cause minimal damage to other cells. But when given other doses, the effect of poison was increased.
Researchers have found that melatonin itself inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Although melatonin is found naturally in bee venom, it can also be made artificially. Between 10 and 15 percent of women with breast cancer are triple (negative) and surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are currently used to treat it.
