In Bandipur, which is as beautiful as heaven, the hope of getting around by cable car has increased. Enthusiasm has increased since the construction of the cable car, which was halted due to the bandh, started. The construction work of the cable car under construction in Bandipur Gaonpalika-4 Thuldhunga of Tanahu has started from Tuesday. Cable car construction has been started using low labor due to the bandh. According to Sharma, only 12 workers have been used so far. “The work was halted after the cable car workers were sent home after the strike. Now we are using local workers,” said Sharma.
Five out of twelve workers are already engaged in cable car construction. Work on the slope at the bottom station has been continued since Tuesday. According to Sharma, the work will be continued even during the shutdown period as there is sufficient supply of construction materials. The work of the cable car project was affected as the workers who went home could not return after the strike started to reduce the risk of Kovid-19. Prior to the shutdown, 170 workers were employed at the cable car project site.
“It is not possible to call the workers back and put them to work in the current situation. That is why we have started working safely using the local workers,” Sharma said. The cost of the building being constructed at the bottom station is Rs. 185.5 million. Construction of a 13-storey hotel has also started from April 22 under the cable car project. The work was postponed after the base of the hotel in Bandipur Gaonpalika-4 Baralthok was demolished. The cost of the hotel is estimated at Rs. 800 million.
“Due to the bandh, the entire work of the project could not be completed on time,” he said. Kathmandu-based Chandra Nirman Seva has been entrusted with the construction of the four-star hotel. A loan agreement has been signed with Nepal SBI Bank for the construction of the hotel. The building will house a modern lookout tower, banquet hall and an 80-room hotel, the company said.
Even though the cable car is expected to be operational within the next decade, the closure has affected the work. The total cost of the Bandipur tourism infrastructure project is Rs. 1.56 billion. So far, 35 percent of the cable car project has been completed. According to Sharma, the work of digging holes and pillars of the cable car tower has been completed. Construction of cable car section at Bottom Station has been completed.
Cage Car Consultant Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu is the consultant for the cable car project, CRS in India and BRICO England are the mechanical consultants. The construction work of the cable car project has been taken forward with the investment of RKD Real Estate and Construction Pvt., Panchase Cable Car and Tours Pvt. Ltd., Tourism Investment Fund Ltd., Bandipur village municipality and locals. The investor company is a company of Nepalis living in Nepal and abroad, where there are more than 1,100 investors.
The company had initially planned to complete the cable car at a cost of Rs. The company has stated that it will invest in the service of mountain jungle safari from Bandipur to Chimkeshwari Fedi to enjoy adventure tourism.
