Rabindra Dhungel, 29 august 2020. Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh has said that leadership is needed within the party to move the party forward institutionally.

In a virtual interaction on ‘Challenges of Women in the Current Situation and the Legislation of the Nepali Congress’ organized by the Central Committee of the Nepal Women’s Association on the occasion of the 24th Memorial Day of the Founding Chairperson of the Nepal Women’s Association Mangaladevi Singh, she said that the cadres were losing faith in the Congress leadership.

“If the Congress is not strong, the democratic system cannot be strong. In order to make the Congress strong, it must be taken in the hands of the right leadership,” he said. He said that only the Nepali Congress could lead the economic revolution.

Stating that Mangaladevi had raised her voice for the rights of Nepali women, Singh said that she was a brave woman who fought for identity and freedom. According to Singh, it is important to make women active for the party’s 14th general convention.

Nepali Congress central member and spokesperson Bishwaprakash Sharma described Mangaladevi Singh as a courageous and rebellious woman. “Due to the revolution made by Mangaladevi Singh, Nepali women have been able to reach the leadership lately,” he said.

He said that the first woman minister, speaker, chief justice and president of South Asia was a Nepali woman, adding that Nepali women were ahead of American women.
