According to the Ministry of Health, the number of infections and deaths has increased in recent times while the recovery rate of those infected is declining. The government is stepping up testing.
On July 15, the cure rate was 72.9 percent. The PCR test that day showed an infection rate of 5.1 percent. Of those infected, only 0.3 percent died. The death rate was only 1.8 per million infected. Three thousand six hundred and four samples were tested on 15 July. Of them, 274 were infected. Two hundred and twenty-seven infected people had returned home that day and three had died.
But now all those indicators are gone. As of Tuesday, 17,580 of the 28,257 infected people across the country have been cured. This rate is 62.2 percent. Which is 11 percent less than July 15. As of Tuesday, the death toll had risen to 114, or 0.4 percent of those infected. The death rate has reached 3.9 per million. On July 15, the rate was only 1.8. Similarly, the infection rate has reached 5.2 percent. The number of active cases is 10,563 or 37.4 percent.
Of the 10,563 active infected people seen till Tuesday, 2,887 have stayed at home as they could not get hospital beds. The number of ICU patients has reached 126. Eight of them are on ventilators. As of Monday, the number of infected people being treated in the ICU was only 101, with only six on the ventilator. Seven people have died from corona in the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health, the victims are from Kavre, Nawalparasi, Morang, Dhanusha, Banke and Tanahun districts.
