Death of Rastrakabi Madhav Prasad Ghimire.

Rabindra Dhungel, 18 august 2020. Rastrakabi Madhav Prasad Ghimire has passed away. National poet Ghimire passed away at his residence at 5:55 pm on Tuesday, said his daughter-in-law Vijeta Ghimire. Ghimire, who was born in Lamjung’s Pustun village on September 26, 1976, died at the age of 101 on Tuesday. Rastrakabi Ghimire was treated at home by giving oxygen for the past four months after he was found to have breathing problems.
He has made significant contributions to Nepali literature from the Middle Ages to modern times. Ghimire is the most popular in Nepali verse poetry.

 

Self. Poems have been created in Ghimire’s romanticist style and sophisticated style. Ghimire wrote in many genres of Nepali literature such as poems, stanzas, lyric plays, stories, translation articles (dissertations). He has collections of poems such as Navmanjari (1994), Ghampani (2010), New Nepal (2013), Kinnarkinnari (2033). ‘Gauri’ is his famous epic poem (mourning poem).

Ghimire composed songs from the popular national anthem ‘Gaunch Geet Nepali’ to ‘Phoolko Thunga Bager Gayo’, ‘Aajai Ra Raati Ke Dekhein Sapna’. Her songs range from Swarasamrat Narayangopal to Tara Devi. He is a B.Sc. After becoming a member of the Nepal State Pragya Pratisthan in 2014 BS, he was a life member, vice-chancellor and patriarch and was active in the Pragya Pratisthan for a long time. Ghimire’s funeral is scheduled for Wednesday.
