Rabindra Dhungel, 16 augustNepal Telecom Authority has started new rules for getting SIM card. The NEA on issued a notice directing the concerned customers to be present in person to get a new SIM card with their original identity card. The authority has suggested the mobile service providers to provide the SIM card only after verifying the copy along with the real identity card and checking the form filled by the customer.
While mobile service providers are selling and distributing SIM cards by themselves or through designated authorized dealers, if a copy of one person’s identity card is obtained by another person, unauthorized access to another person’s mobile number can be done on banking services, email services, social media including Facebook and other digital services and data. The Nepal electricity authority has informed that such suggestions have been issued as access to the people and security threat will also increase.
