Personal loans can be obtained up to Rs 50 lakh, New provision in the integrated directory of Nepal Rastra Bank
Rabindra Dhungel, Kathmandu, Fri, 9 Aug 2020 . Personal loans of up to Rs. 50 lakh are available from banks and financial institutions. Nepal Rastra Bank has set limits on all types of personal loans through the Unified Directive.
According to the law, if someone has taken a loan of more than Rs 5 million, he will have to repay it within Rs 50 lakh by mid-Asad 2079 BS.
As per the arrangement, the recipients of personal loans of any title including overdraft can get only up to Rs.50 lakh. These include overdrafts, collateral loans, property loans, term loans and share collateral loans. Earlier, only caps were fixed on overdrafts.
However, this provision will not hinder banks and financial institutions from providing their own term deposit receipts, gold and silver and loans on the security of Government of Nepal or Nepal Rastra Bank bonds and issuing collateral at 100% cash margin.
As per the Unified Directive, the limit of share pledge loan has been increased from 65 percent to 70 percent and the loan based on the last price of 180 days will be given at the last price of 120 days.
