Famous Football Player Sergio Ramos’ moments on his 34th birthday

Given that the Spaniard is one of the world’s greatest centre-backs, we’re sure that many people will be taking the opportunity to reminisce about his many glory days for Real Madrid. But if you know anything about the Spanish game, you’ll be aware that his many trophies and plaudits don’t actually reflect Ramos’ complete contribution to world football.

we respect  Sergio Ramos not just as a fantastic footballer, but also as one of the craziest, most enigmatic figures in the history of the contemporary game. So, with that in mind, we’ve decided to celebrate his birthday with a retrospective look at seven key factors that have earned Ramos his current reputation as one of the craziest men in football.

Receiving four red cards in his debut season for Real Madrid – and 26 overall
Sergio Ramos has received an unprecedented 26 red cards during his career thus far. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to take you through all of them. The Spaniard certainly gave fans a taste of things to come in his first season at the Bernabeu, where he picked up four reds between September 2005 and May 2006. And incredibly, they were red cards of all different kinds! One was for two yellows, one for a single dangerous challenge, one for fighting with an opposing substitute, and one for handball.

His apparent determination to end Lionel Messi’s career
He can be one of the best players in the world, but Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is not exempt from Sergio Ramos’ wrath on the pitch. On the contrary, he’s actually a regular victim. Their most notable encounter came in 2010, when Messi’s skill wound Ramos up so much that he ended up lashing out at the Argentine during a crushing 5-0 for Real. He received a straight red, and the rivalry didn’t end there. In last year’s El Clasico at the Bernabeu, Ramos became enraged again and was very lucky to get away with elbowing Messi in the mouth.

Dropping the Copa del Rey trophy under a bus
If we needed any further proof, this incident from 2011 showed us all that both in victory and in defeat, Ramos can sometimes finds it quite hard to control himself. Celebrating a 1-0 Copa del Rey final victory over rivals Barça, Ramos proudly held the trophy aloft from the top deck of the parade bus – before dropping it under its wheels. Despite Ramos’ calls for the bus to be stopped, the driver remained oblivious and promptly ran over the trophy with his right front wheel. Fortunately, the trophy was recovered!

Injuring Mo Salah and concussing Loris Karius in the Champions League final
As we all remember, Ramos was directly involved in two huge moments of controversy in the Champions League final against Liverpool in 2018. He ended Mo Salah’s game with a crunching challenge, before colliding with Loris Karius and giving him suspected concussion in the build up to the two massive mistakes that decided the tie. After the game, Ramos showed little sympathy, saying “I am only missing Roberto Firmino saying he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him”.

His love-hate relationship with Gerard Pique
Ramos and Pique claim to have mutual respect for one another and put their differences aside when playing together for the Spain national team, but in El Clasico, it’s a different story. Both players taunt each other incessantly and have both called each other out in front of the world’s press multiple times in the past for criticising their teammates.

Showing no respect for his hometown club, Sevilla
Ramos signed for Real Madrid from Sevilla, but he has made it public knowledge that these days, he holds no fondness for the club or its fans. It all came to a head during a thrilling 3-3 draw back in 2017, when Ramos scored a cheeky ‘Paneka’ penalty for Madrid and promptly went to celebrate in front of the Sevilla fans.

His short-lived rap career
Just before the Champions League final against Liverpool in 2018, Ramos announced his debut rap single, which to no-one’s surprise, was dedicated to himself.
